Why some Canadians are dorks - A theory.

Some Canadians seem spiteful of the USA. I was thinking about this the other day, and came up with a theory.

In one of my favourite TV shows, "Everybody loves Raymond", Ray is a likeable guy, fairly average, successful, sometimes people have a laugh at his expense but it's still clear that he's the nice guy. Ray is like the USA.

Ray's brother, Robert, is selfish of Ray's success. He thinks he hasn't had life as easy as Ray. Robert thinks Ray doesn't deserve the popularity and attention he gets (hence the title of the show). Robert is like Canada.

I know :P not everyone in Canada is like this. But I know of one outspoken dude from Canda who is just like this, and I guess that's what this little theory is all about.

I've always liked Robert better. Sure he is jealous of the attention that Ray gets but I don't think that makes him an unlikable guy. Everyone has faults. I just don't LIKE Raymond. He's a dickhead who thinks he is so much better than he actually is and NOT EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND. I, for example, do not love Raymond and thus I refuse to watch the show because that guy shits me up the wall so much.
I don't think Ray deserves the popularity and attention he gets either and thus I sympathise with Robert.
I don't think it's clear that Ray is 'the nice guy'. I think that it's clear that Ray is a wanker.
But, like I said, I don't watch the show because when I do I just want to punch Raymond in the nose. I think it's his voice. He's so irritating.

LOL

Hey I have a new theory -- do you have a sibling who you envy, ephant? I have a sibling, but I don't really envy him much, I consider him my equal - maybe that's why I empathise with Ray more than Robert.

I like Debra best ;) cute, intelligent, forceful when she needs to be. Reminds me of someone ...

I was the most envied in my sibling rivalry. I competed with my sister because I could always win and I was the favourite child. I was such a brat!

I am the eldest of 4 (others are 3, 4.5 and 7 years younger than me) and didn't envy my sister or brothers much. Occasionally I felt threatened by them but far less than in the other direction.

I have a crush on Robert.

Who does Debra remind you of???

wheatiedick is the only Canadian I know of who is a jerk toward Americans. I'm sure there are more, but I haven't had the displeasure. Yet.
I have a theory too.
You know how some men drive big cars to compensate for smaller parts? I think some guys are jerks to make up for their smaller parts. :P
Yup, I bet he's got an itty-bitty pee-pee, and that makes him cranky.
:^O

ROFL!
Hmmmm ... how would you describe my disposition?

Debra reminds me of someone I've met in person, another height-challenged, dark-red haired, attractive, American woman.

BTW, I should say I do admire some Canadians: Two of my favourite musical acts are from there: Devin Townsend, and The Tea Party. That old "Degrassi Junior High" TV show was good too.

It's a good show. I'm not sure how Canadians would feel about this comparison of yours... There's a lot more American jokes than Canadian jokes.
